Out of the mouths of babes

Conversations with a three-year-old can be very interesting.
Today I had the pleasure of two very humorous conversations.

The first conversation went something like this:

Parker: My shirt is hating me.

Me: Oh really?

Parker: I am hating my shirt.

Me: Why honey? (Thinking he was going to say that he was too warm... it was cold here today (50's) and we had to bundle up.)

Parker: I don't hate this one (pointing to the short sleeve shirt he had on over a long sleeve shirt). I hate this one (pointing to the long sleeve shirt). It is too white.

Me: (suppressing laughter) Oh, that is a big problem, isn't it?

*Note to self: When buying shirts and debating whether to get the white one, fearing it will get dirty too fast, don't worry. Parker doesn't like his shirts too white.

The second conversation went like this after seeing some deer alongside the road on our way home this evening:

Parker: We should get a deer.

Me: You mean as a pet?

Parker: Yes. We should get a deer at the pet store.

Me: (again suppressing laughter) Oh, does the pet store sell deer?

Parker: Yes. The pet store has one left.

Me: Oh no. Only one left?

Parker: No. They have ten left.

Me: That is good to know. We won't have to be in such a rush then. What would we do with a deer?

Parker: It could go in the backyard and eat the grass.

Me: That is a great idea. Should we get a cow? They like to eat grass too.

Parker: (laughing) No. A cow would be too big.

*Note to self: We have a deer sized backyard, not a cow sized backyard. Also, we will have to schedule a trip to the pet store to pick up our deer.

Chunky Monkey

The four month stats for Averie are:

Height: 25 3/4 inches (95th percentile)
Weight: 17 pounds 9 ounces (um.... off the chart)

Looking back at Parker's stats at his four month appointment he was 25 1/2 inches and 17 pounds 5 ounces. I think Averie will be able to hold her own!

Christmas Fun

It was sure a shock for us to go from sunny weather and temperatures in the 70's to feet of snow and temperatures in the teens. Although we missed seeing many of our friends and some of our family we made the best of the weather and played outside in the snow quite a bit. I am sure glad we can visit the "Great White North" and return home to sunny Florida! Who knew bundling up two kids, plus yourself, could take nearly the whole morning?

Maybe it is because I am a mom

Have you ever felt a connection to someone you have never met? Tonight when I heard the news about Jett Travolta my heart sunk. Maybe it is because Averie was born at the same hospital he was. Or maybe it is because his family lived in the Spruce Creek Fly-in (a fly-in community in the area) and we have driven by his house on the way to Chris' yearly flight physicals. Or maybe it is because we actually considered the name Jett for Parker (We, probably like Jett's parents, wanted to come up with a unique name that tied into aviation.) Or maybe it is just because I am a mom and can't imagine what his parents are feeling right now...
